The Future Clinical Commissioning Leaders Programme


Overview 

This programme has been developed in partnership between NHS England, CCGs and the NHS Leadership Academy. Clinically led commissioning is at the core of the new NHS commissioning system, with CCGs at the forefront of this. We are offering a programme specifically designed  to meet the needs of GPs looking towards governing body and leadership roles to support succession planning.

Who is the programme for?

This programme is for you if you are:

  • A clinician working in commissioning with support from your local Clinical Commissioning Group looking to develop your skills
  • Looking to move into a leadership role in the next 12-18 months
  • Wanting to develop your leadership skills and further your understanding of the role of the Commissioner
  • Working on a complex commissioning project
  • Looking to network and share experiences with peers

Programme structure

This nine-month programme will incorporate: 

  • An assessment process including completion of the Healthcare Leadership Model 360 feedback
  • Three residential elements covering system and personal leadership, the role of commissioning leaders and the opportunity to explore CCG- specific knowledge
  • Attendance at three Action Learning Sets
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Facilitated shared learning

Applications for Cohort 6 of this programme are now open.

Dates:

  • Development Centre: 8th and 9th February 2018
  • Module 1: 8th and 9th March 2018
  • Module 2: 15th and 16th May 2018
  • Module 3: 4th and July 2018

These dates will all take place at the NHS Leadership Academy in Leeds, LS1 4GP.
