Karen leads on the development, implementation and management of the local and National Leadership Development programmes as an integral part of our Leadership Development Partners role with the NHS Leadership Academy. Karen leads the Leadership Alumni Network for over 400 clinicians and managers, running a series of network events and development opportunities. Karen is an Action Learning set facilitator and has run sets virtually for Aspiring Senior Leaders and sets for Lead Nurses and the Clinical Fellows. She has developed the Coaching strategy and developed coaching capacity, CPD and supervision arrangements for the coaches on the coaching register. She also leads on the implementation of the Health Coaching programme.

Karen is a feedback facilitator for the Healthcare Leadership Model 360 and has established a network for the feedback faciliitators based in EoE. Karen qualified as a nurse at University College Hospital in 1985. She has held senior clinical nursing posts in Hertfordshire, at St Albans City Hospital and Lister Hospital. During that time she led and managed the Anticipated Recovery Pathway project in Orthopaedics and Urology, reducing LOS in patient pathways. She reduced spend on agency nursing from 97% to 3%, establishing the Nurse Bank. Prior to her current post was Associate Director for Workforce Development at Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire SHA, with responsibility for development of new roles e.g radiography assistant practitioners, extended nurse prescribing, return to practice and interprofessional learning and she managed the implementation of the National Midwifery Recruitment and Retention 6 point action plan, reporting to the CNO, for 3 years.

Pat is the Programme Lead for Talent and Inclusion and supports the development, implementation and management of the local and national leadership development programmes and work streams related to talent management and building leadership for inclusion.

Pat is a registered nurse and midwife and held senior clinical roles in various posts particularly in midwifery. The development of others has always been fundamental to her practice as a leader. This interest prompted moves into roles within practice development, leadership development and organisational development working within an acute trust and across the locality and more recently across the region. Pat passionately believes that when you create an inclusive culture whereby staff talents are recognised nurtured and developed, staff are more able to deliver high quality care and are engaged not only in their own development but the development of others.

Deborah manages our business operations which includes financial planning and management, business planning, human resources, service management, and information technology. Her experience ranges from financial services to programme management. Deborah joined the NHS and the Leadership team in 2009 having worked in a similar team for LloydsTSB. She has played a fundamental role in implementing our leadership approach over the last few years.


Jacqueline Smith

Jacqueline is the Programme Manager for primary care and also manages the Mary Seacole local programmes for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and Essex as well as being a trained NHS Healthcare Leadership Model feedback facilitator. Our Primary Care Leadership  Collaboratives, supports, develops and improves capability in primary care, ultimately improving patient care. Other areas Jacqueline is involved in include Patient Engagement and our newly developed Practice Managers Programme, enabling practice managers across the East of England to enhance their leadership and improve my skills.

Jacqueline began her career in a more forensic setting: Psychologist in the prison service for several years, and has held a number of project manager roles; for the police in domestic violence, for offender services working with probation and prisons and for parenting programmes working closely with CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection) as well as Operational Performance Manager for the Drugs and Alcohol service, Post Graduate Dental Education and HEE Programme Manager for CPD projects across East of England. 

Jacqueline is proud to be a domestic abuse ambassador, and to help support teams in the community to create safe environments so survivors feel able to speak out and be supported by services. She also enjoys spending precious time with her children, grandchildren and friends, having fun and enjoying the value of time together, laughter and music.

Breda joined the team in March 2018 with a double brief, to lead on Talent Management and the Graduate Management Training Scheme across East of England. Breda has been with the NHS since 2010 and has enjoyed being part of a variety of teams working on local, regional and national transformation projects. Breda’s passion is supporting our stakeholders and is looking forward to working with our employers and trainees to ensure a successful outcome and positive experience for all involved in these two workstreams. Before joining the NHS Breda, managed training centres and has worked in public, private, voluntary and independent sectors. Outside of work Breda loves musical theatre and spending time with her family and friends.

I proudly hold the title amongst others in my life like Coach, Mentor, Trainer, Facilitator, psychometrics practitioner and wider OD Consultant (in addition to being a “juggling” mum of two) en-route to becoming a Master Practitioner in Emotional Intelligence.

Starting off my career as an HR generalist, I quickly discovered my preference and passion for enabling growth. Leadership and organisational development activities were the perfect platform. Across my 15 years experience I have co-created multi-input leadership development programmes supporting the development of first, middle and senior leaders in the NHS and Not-for-Profit sector. I am motivated by being a catalyst for change for leaders of all backgrounds. I work for a future where more self-aware leaders will be enabling the delivery of effective patient and service user care through integrated high performing and possibly game changing teams and systems.

I look after three workstreams; Coaching and Mentoring, Healthcare Leadership Model and the OD Network. We have lots of exciting events coming up, including mentoring skills for new or experienced mentors, career coaching to support crucial decision making, and our OD Network, upcoming sessions of which are being delivered in partnership with Delloite on enhancing our OD Practice. For 2019/2020 my focus will be to promote coaching and mentoring as the powerful development opportunities they are, to cater for our community of HLM Facilitators and to support our growing OD Network in its mission to create opportunities for thought and practice exchange.

Ruth provides support to the Inclusion, Graduate Management Training Scheme and Talent Management workstreams across the east of England.
Ruth has a background in health and social care and has previously worked as a social worker in older people’s mental health services, and also as a long-term volunteer for a charity in India. She loves to travel and experience different cultures, and also to spend time at home reading, walking the dog and socialising with family and friends.

 


Tracy Bentley

Tracy joined the team in December 2018 and provides PA support to Karen Bloomfield and programme support to the OD network, Coaching/Mentoring and HLM programmes within the Leadership Academy  team. Tracy has worked within the NHS for many years within various roles across NHS England, CPFT, HEEoE, and acute hospital settings. Tracy likes to spend time practising her love of oil painting and socialising with friends and family.

Angelas role is to provide business and administrative support to the Leadership team, including support for programme recruitment through to completion. 

Angela has a background in banking and education.  Outside of work Angela loves horse-riding and swimming.

Amber joined the team in September 2018. Her role is to provide administrative support to the Leadership work steams. She enjoys a varied role including aid of events and workshops, assisting programme coordinators, the website and communications. She gets great satisfaction from being involved in a team which nurtures and supports leadership and organisational growth within the NHS.

Amber has a background in biological sciences and has worked as a research assistant. Additionally, she was on committee for the Woman in Business Society at her university.

Outside of work Amber loves travelling and socialising with friends and family.
