Karen leads on the development, implementation and management of the local and National Leadership Development programmes as an integral part of our Leadership Development Partners role with the NHS Leadership Academy. Karen leads the Leadership Alumni Network for over 400 clinicians and managers, running a series of network events and development opportunities. Karen is an Action Learning set facilitator and has run sets virtually for Aspiring Senior Leaders and sets for Lead Nurses and the Clinical Fellows. She has developed the Coaching strategy and developed coaching capacity, CPD and supervision arrangements for the coaches on the coaching register. She also leads on the implementation of the Health Coaching programme.

Karen is a feedback facilitator for the Healthcare Leadership Model 360 and has established a network for the feedback faciliitators based in EoE. Karen qualified as a nurse at University College Hospital in 1985. She has held senior clinical nursing posts in Hertfordshire, at St Albans City Hospital and Lister Hospital. During that time she led and managed the Anticipated Recovery Pathway project in Orthopaedics and Urology, reducing LOS in patient pathways. She reduced spend on agency nursing from 97% to 3%, establishing the Nurse Bank. Prior to her current post was Associate Director for Workforce Development at Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire SHA, with responsibility for development of new roles e.g radiography assistant practitioners, extended nurse prescribing, return to practice and interprofessional learning and she managed the implementation of the National Midwifery Recruitment and Retention 6 point action plan, reporting to the CNO, for 3 years.

Deborah manages our business operations which includes financial planning and management, business planning, human resources, service management, and information technology. Her experience ranges from financial services to programme management. Deborah joined the NHS and the Leadership team in 2009 having worked in a similar team for LloydsTSB. She has played a fundamental role in implementing our leadership approach over the last few years. Outside of work, Deborah has strong links with her local community and village school and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

 Kasia is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Professional Development and coordinates our full range of professional leadership development programmes. She has recently completed a post-graduate diploma in Human Resource Management. Kasia has been working in the NHS for nearly 10 years, and in her current role as Leadership Programme Manager she manages and supports our participants’ journeys through their leadership development programmes. In her free time Kasia enjoys watching Friends, crafting and reading a popular crime drama.

Leanne's role is in fully supporting the Coaching, Mentoring and Organisational Development workstreams, along with providing PA support to Karen. Her background ranges from health and fitness to customer service, in both public and private sector organisations. She obtained her BTEC qualification in sport and exercise science from Hertford Regional College in 2007 and enjoys traveling the world, shopping and music (all kinds).

Ruth has recently joined the team. She co-ordinates the NHS Healthcare Leadership Model workstream and provides support to other workstreams including the Graduate Management Training Scheme and Talent Management across the east of England.
Ruth has a background in health and social care and has previously worked as a social worker in older people’s mental health services, and also as a long-term volunteer for a charity in India. She loves to travel and experience different cultures, and also to spend time at home reading, walking the dog and socialising with family and friends.


Jasmina Gurung

Business Administration Apprentice |  01223 596854

Jasmina joined the team as an apprentice business administrator in May 2017. Her background includes hairdressing, retail and customer service. In her free time she like to draw, paint portraits and surreal art and go shopping. She also like to travel and learn about the different cultures around the world.
